FEMA Controls Honeywell GmbH - a short history

Today's FEMA Controls Honeywell GmbH was founded in 1938 by two business men, Weber and Freund. Back than it was called Factory Electro-Mechanical Apparatusses (FEMA) located in Stuttgart. The product portfolio contained pressure switches, thermostats and solenoid valves for the industry and heating technology. After 1945 the company moved to Stuttgart/Vaihingen, where in 1970, being in bad economic condition, it was taken over by Centra-Albert Bürkle KG. With the developement of the mechanical pressure switch in 1974 FEMA managed to set the basis for a lot of further innovations until today.

To ensure the continuity of Centra Bürkle, the business was integrated into the Honeywell Organization in 1984. The name FEMA remained as brand name. in 1989 the facilities of FEMA moved from Stuttgart/Vaihingen to Schönaich. Since the 01.01.96 we carry the company name FEMA Regelgeräte Honeywell GmbH ("FEMA Controls Honeywell GmbH"), which integrates the brand name FEMA into the official company name. Since 1992 FEMA also produces pressure- and temperature transmitters in modulare construction besides the traditional devices mentioned above.
